One valuable lesson I’ve learned from a combination of sales techniques and working with teenagers who are like heat-seeking missiles for opportunities to rebel against the System is that something becomes 5x more enticing if it seems like what they’re about to do is morally questionable. This has become a secret ingredient to “hook” students on lessons when one of the main challenges I face as a teacher is getting students to parse their most sought-after resource: their attention.

Now that I’ve hopefully grabbed your attention as well, let me clear the smoke and mirrors and get to the details of what we were actually doing.
